Rob is a professor at the Stern School of Business at NYU. He wanted a more polished web presence than what was provided by the university. Again the focus here was on content - a place to list Rob's CV, classes taught, and publications - and it was important for the look and feel to not detract from the site's purpose.

We also created a TypePad blog with a similar look and feel, where Rob could write about his area of expertise, corporate strategy.

This was truly an extreme site makeover for a Manhattan boutique law firm specializing in small business; we completely changed the look and feel of the site, while moving it over to the Squarespace platform and adding a blog and other CMS functionality. Firm partner Nina Kaufman worked with a copywriter to overhaul the content as well.

The end result was an elegant, understated look with the emphasis on content (as it should be). It's definitely one of my favorites, with the use of white space and the splash of color - and my favorite color at that.

Rick Amato hosts The Rick Amato Show, a weekly radio show in San Diego County, where he covers "real people, real issues, in real time."

Rick had initially launched his blog earlier in 2006 with TypePad, but sometime in the summer the site was relaunced on a Joomla platform. Rick immediately realized that was a big mistake, as he was unable to make many of the changes he was able to easily make with TypePad.

When he contacted me, he was ready to move back to TypePad, but with a more polished look and feel than he had started out with there. This is another great example of using TypePad's advanced templates to create a blog-hybrid site. While some of the ease-of-use of TypePad is lost when that switch is made, the end result is a much more custom web presence.

This was a challenging project - I was unable to find a way to port his entries from Joomla into to TypePad, so it was a lot of heavy lifting on my part that I didn't anticipate. I also had no experience with Joomla when I started.

The amazing Glenda Watson Hyatt won the Mega Marketing Makeover earlier this year. My part of the prize package was to set up a blog to support her upcoming (now recently published!) book, I'll Do It Myself: A Collection of Memories from a Woman Living with Cerebral Palsy.

This was a definite challenge for me because I had never done a WordPress template before! I seriously considered hiring someone to do it for me, and then I realized I would be missing the point by doing that.

I gave myself a crash course in WordPress (ok, definite trial and error, with an emphasis on the error). I learned from Glenda that WordPress is rated very highly in terms of accessibility, so it was important to keep her blog on that platform.

The look and feel was set by the banner provided by another participant in the contest, so my task was to create the template per Glenda's wishes and set up the blog...and that I did.
